Chrobry to battle Korona for Ekstraklasa place

Chrobry Głogów pulled off a sensational 2-0 victory over Arka Gdynia on Thursday, to reach the 1 Liga play-off final. They will face Korona Kielce for the final place in the Ekstraklasa.

Having only scraped into 6th place on the final day, the Lower Silesian minnows were paired against an Arka side which had thrown away several chances for automatic promotion in the final weeks of the season. But with goals from Dominik Piła and Mikołaj Lebedyński, Chrobry now stand just one match away from a first ever top-flight appearance.

Chrobry will meet a Korona Kielce side which is looking to end its two-year stint in the second tier. They defeated Odra Opole 3-0 in Thursday’s earlier kick-off, thanks to a Jacek Podgórski brace and an Adam Frączczak penalty.

Korona Kielce will host Chrobry Głogów in the final, on Sunday 29th May at 20:45 CET.

Meanwhile, in the 2 Liga, Motor Lublin ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Wigry Suwałki in their semi-final. Goals from Tomasz Swędrowski, Maciej Firlej, Damian Sędzikowski and Paweł Moskwik continue their hopes of returning to the second-tier after a twelve-year absence.

Their opponents will be Ruch Chorzów, who left it very late to defeat Radunia Stężyca in Upper Silesia. Daniel Szczepan’s 118th minute strike earned a 1-0 victory, and a chance for a second promotion in as many years.

Ruch will host Motor Lublin in Chorzów on Sunday 29th May, at 17:00 CET.
