Poland youth international defender Maik Nawrocki has made his switch to the Ekstraklasa permanent. After his loan spell from Werder Bremen during the 2021/22 season, the 21-year-old has signed a deal to stay at Legia Warsaw until the end of the 2024/25 season.
In a dismal season for the Wojskowi, the emergence of young centre-back Nawrocki was a silver lining. In total he played 29 matches and scoring once for Legia, during a season which he saw interrupted through injury twice – most recently suffering ankle ligament damage in March’s 4-1 victory over Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza, which kept him out for the remainder of the season.
Prior to his arrival in Warsaw, Bremen-born Nawrocki played three times on loan at Warta Poznań.
Nawrocki is the second permanent signing under new boss Kosta Runjaić, after the capture of Blaž Kramer on Wednesday. Lech Poznań’s out-of-favour midfielder Pedro Tiba is expected to follow shortly.
