Ekstraklasa SA announced the fixtures for the 2022/23 season on Wednesday. Champions Lech Poznań begin the defence of their title at home to Stal Mielec, while newly-promoted sides Miedź Legnica, Widzew Łódź and Korona Kielce start with games against Radomiak Radom, Pogoń Szczecin and Legia Warsaw respectively.
the first weekend of the season also sees the first derby of the season – the Lower Silesian Derby between Zagłębie Lubin and Śląsk Wrocław. The return fixture in Wrocław will be played on the first weekend of 2023.
One of the most famous derbies, between Widzew Łódź and Legia Warsaw, returns after several years on matchday 5 (weekend of 13 August), while the Upper Silesia Derby between Górnik Zabrze and Piast Gliwice takes place four weeks later (weekend of 10 September).
The Poznań Derby also takes place in September, with Warta hosting Lech on the weekend of 17 September (matchday 10), just before the international break. Straight after it, Lech return to action at home to Legia (weekend of 1 October).
Because of the 2022 World Cup taking place in November and December, leagues across the world have had to be shifted slightly. The Ekstraklasa will begin its Autumn Round on the weekend of 16 July, and come to an early end on the weekend of 12 November. The Spring Round will begin on the weekend of 28 January 2023, with the season coming to a close on 27 May 2023.
