Legia Warszawa have swooped to claim the signature of left-winger Patryk Kun, whose five-year spell at Raków Częstochowa will end in the summer. 27-year-old Kun has signed a three-year deal with the Wójskowi.
Kun, who celebrates his 28th birthday on Thursday, has played a hugely important part in Raków’s major successes over the last few years, and has made appearances in all but five of the Medaliki‘s Ekstraklasa games this season. He is, however, currently serving a three-match ban after receiving a red card whilst a substitute against Radomiak Radom in matchday 27.
The talented midfielder has seen his impressive performances rewarded with a handful of call-ups to the Poland national team, with the first coming back in March 2022 under Czesław Michniewicz. So far, however, he has yet to make an appearance on the pitch for the Białe-Orły.
“Patryk is a well-trained, experienced player of good quality. His profile os in line with our way of playing, he is very familiar with the formation we have been preferring for months… Patryk’s arrival at Ulica Łazienkowska confirms that players who stand-out in their positions in Ekstraklasa are interested in playing for our club and fighting for success.”
Jacek Magiera, Legia Warszawa sports director
Kun joined Raków whilst the club were still in the I Liga, and has been a part of their significant recent successes. Prior to his spell in Częstochowa, he spent time playing for Arka Gdynia, Stomil Olsztyn and Rozwój Katowice.
Kun is the latest name to be confirmed as departing Raków in the summer, after the earlier announcement on Wednesday that coach Marek Papszun would also be leaving after 7 years.
Raków currently sit 8 points ahead of Legia with 6 games remaining, and also face off against the Wójskowi in next month’s Puchar Polski final.
